The Simple Sales Funnel

entrepreneur to directly monetize through paid advertising - and organic 'social selling' wasn't something that most businesses were even talking about, let alone practicing.

Fast-forward a few years and I go it alone online - committing to jumping head-first into building my own internet marketing agency.

It's NOT easy!! We still haven't recovered from the crash of 2008 and it becomes a real struggle to stay afloat and support my family.

But that doesn't deter me from pursuing this industry that I have so grown to love...

I dive heavily into learning everything I can about online marketing and sales. I learn to publish and market books. I do two years of door-to-door sales, and I even run a successful e-commerce store on Amazon - where Suzanne Somers' Thigh Master is my biggest seller - and where I realize that, despite the money, I really don't enjoy e-commerce.

I have many successes... and I have many 'failures' - projects that just don't work out the way I hope they would. At times I'm not making much money at all, and - because we're still deeply in debt due to my leaving the Military in the midst of a huge economic downturn - there are serious financial difficulties and stress in my marriage.

But that changes in early 2018 when I'm presented with an opportunity that transforms my business.

I'm invited into a 'beta' course for generating leads on LinkedIn for clients and - seeing the potential - I jump at the chance, spending what little I have left on my credit card to purchase the course.

To say my business takes off is an understatement! Three months in and - with 12 clients under my wing - I'm trapped! I'm spending almost all my days tending to my clients' accounts – and unable to do any further prospecting for myself.

A few months later, I step back and take a hard look at everything. And that's when I realize that this done-for-you business model just isn't scalable the way I want. I'd have to bring in multiple employees very quickly – which really isn't something I planned on, let alone am interested in doing right now.

More importantly, I identify holes in the strategy that make it difficult for some clients to see consistent results. I'm bringing plenty of prospects their way, but these often go nowhere as my clients are missing essential foundational and sales components required to turn many of these leads into a sale.

So, I slowly scale everything back and reassess my business model. And, of course - with systems being my thing - I take what I've learned, add to it, systematize as much as possible, and build out a done-for-you lead generation strategy on Facebook.

Over the past few years, I've had clients in multiple industries.

I've helped to close over $2,000,000 in real estate deals...

... and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of coaching and consulting clients.

But through all of this, one thing is absolutely clear to me...

No matter how much money I'm making, I'm happiest and most passionate when helping others directly. Teaching them… advising them… coaching them - and having a real impact in their lives.

So I decide to shut down my lead generation business, and I work tirelessly on my next incarnation. An A to Z program aimed at helping coaches, experts, and freelancers put systems in place to have a consistent income that gives them the freedom to live life on their terms.
